Early Literacy Class registration
Registration for a new five-week series of children’s early literacy classes begins Monday, February 22nd. This class is a wonderful introduction to story times, libraries, and beginning reading! Call the Discovery Room at 565-4182 to register.
Age 18-24 months – Fridays, 10:30-11:30 – Books & Babies
Age 24-36 months – Wednesdays, 10:00-10:45 or 11:00-11:45 – Parent & Tot
Age 3-5 years – Thursdays, 10:15-11:15 or 1:00-2:00 – Story Time
Age 5-7 years – Tuesdays, 3:15-4:15 – Story Stretchers
Our Drop-In Playgroup for children up to age 3 with caregivers and siblings takes place every Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Have fun listening to a story and singing a few songs before free play time begins!
After School Chess
On Monday, February 23rd from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., join us for drop-in chess for kids of all ages. Instruction and leadership will be provided by Longmeadow High School students. Beginners are welcome and encouraged!
Gazoots!: How to Read Expressively with your Child
Join us on Wednesday, February 24th from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. for a story reading workshop for parents and early educators. Working through the lens of storytelling and improv theatre, Rona Leventhal will help parents to develop tools and confidence to read to their children in an expressive manner that brings stories to life. Parent and Child Yoga
On Friday, February 26th from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., join instructor Lisa Katz for interactive yoga classes. Adults and children age 2 to 5 will enjoy this monthly class. Lisa is a certified Creative Kids Yoga teacher. In her classes, students experience yoga breathing, mind-body fitness with yoga poses and creative dance movements in a non-competitive environment. Drop-in Welcome Baby Class
Join this informative social group for families with a first baby. Pathways for Parents and Storrs Library Discovery Room host Welcome Baby for first time parents with babies up to 15 months old. Discover the benefits of reading, music, and interactive play for your child’s development. Join us every Friday from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
Friday Afternoon Crafting: A Minecraft Program
Come craft with friends at the library every Friday afternoon from 3:15 to 4:15! Crafting together allows children to enter each other’s worlds to play games, help build, or simply explore. You may be asked to answer a challenge to receive a prize! The Library has a limited number of iPads for children to use, so make sure to register early. Join us on Saturday, February 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Sew-In Saturday. Learn to sew and make a library book bag at the same time! Help maintain Storrs Library’s book bag collection for the BagShare project. If you already know how to sew and would like to work on your own project, that’s ok too. Love to knit? Come join the Novel Knitters at Storrs Library, a drop-in program for adult knitters of all levels that meets every Tuesday morning from 10:15 – 11:45. Bring your own projects and supplies or participate in ongoing community projects. For further information, call Carole at 565-4182.

Great Decisions Discussion Group
Storrs Library invites interested residents to learn about and weigh in on important foreign policy issues facing the United States today.
