Children’s Programs
Drop-In Playgroup
Our drop-in playgroup for children up to age 3 with caregivers and siblings takes place every Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Have fun listening to a story and singing a few songs before free play time begins!

After School Chess
On Monday, January 11th from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., join us for drop-in chess for kids of all ages. Instruction and leadership will be provided by Longmeadow High School students. Beginner players are welcomed and encouraged!

Storrs Spirit Squad
Do you love your library? Do you want to encourage others to read? Join the Storrs Spirit Squad and help us cheer our library staff, patrons and volunteers. We need your ideas! We want to perform a song, dance or skit for the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on April 14th and we want to promote our library pride at Long Meddowe Days in May. Come join the fun on Monday, January 11th from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Spirit Squad is for students in grades 6 and up and will meet on Monday evenings through May 16th. Mother-Daughter Book Group
On Tuesday, January 12th, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., join us for our mother-daughter book group. This fun-filled discussion group is open to students in grades 6 to 8 and meets monthly. Come in and express your ideas! Activities include discussion, snacks, and an art project. Stop by the Discovery Room to register and pick up a copy of this month’s book, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

Junior Imagineers
On Thursday, January 14th from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., join us at Storrs Library to imagine, build and create with LEGOS! This program is for grades K and up. Please call the Discovery Room at 565-4182 to register.

Drop-in Welcome Baby Class
Join this informative social group for families with a first baby. Pathways for Parents and Storrs Library Discovery Room host Welcome Baby for first time parents with children ages 0 – 15 months. Discover the benefits of reading, music, and interactive play for your child’s development. Join us every Friday from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.

Minecraft with Friends
Come to the library on Fridays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. to craft with friends. A light snack will be served. You may be asked to answer a challenge to receive a prize! This program is for children in grades 2 and up. Call the Discovery Room at 565-4182 to register.

Sew-In Saturday
On Saturday, January 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., join us for a sew-in. Learn to sew and make a library book bag at the same time! Help maintain Storrs Library’s book bag collection for the BagShare project. If you already know how to sew and would like to work on your own project, that’s ok too. Sign up by calling the Discovery Room at 565-4182.

Dads and Donuts
Are you looking for a great way for children and their dads to spend time together? Storrs Library is hosting Dads and Donuts on Saturday, January 16th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Enjoy an hour of coffee, donuts, stories and crafts. Call 565-4182 or visit the Discovery Room to register.

Adult Programs
Newbie Knitters Level I and Intermediate Knitters Classes
Sign up now for a 10 week knitting class for adults. Classes will be held on Monday evenings. Newbie Knitters meet from 5:00 to 6:15 and intermediate knitters meet from 6:15 to 7:45, from January 25th through April 4th. There will be no class on Presidents Day, February 15th. Longmeadow resident and former teacher Ruth Manna will teach you to cast on, purl and bind off or guide you through an intermediate project. These free classes will fill up quickly! Call 565-4182 to register. We request knitters commit to all 10 weeks of this program.

Novel Knitters
Love to knit? Come join the Novel Knitters at Storrs Library, a drop-in program for adult knitters of all levels that meets every Tuesday morning from 10:15 – 11:45. Bring your own projects and supplies or participate in ongoing community projects. For further information, call Carole at 565-4182.
Tech Tuesdays Drop-In Session
Learn how to download free eBooks, audiobooks, music and movies through your library. Try our language learning program, explore our research databases or embark on a genealogy search. Tech Tuesday sessions are held every Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Drop in with your library card and your questions. No registration is necessary. Call 565-4181, ext. 1620 with questions.

Storrs Scribblers Adult Coloring Group
Adult coloring is a wonderful way for adults to get in touch with their inner artist. Join us at Storrs Library from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12th to try your hand at this relaxing and social activity! All supplies and refreshments will be provided. Art Reception: Springfield Museums Student Artists
On Wednesday, January 13th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to meet the talented artists exhibiting their work at the library and enjoy some light refreshments.
