Longmeadow Police Logs, July 29 – Aug. 4, 2019

Monday, July 29

12:08 p.m.: Police investigated a report of harassment on Williams Street.

2:03 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious male acting in an erratic fashion on Bliss Road. The reporting party said he drove away in a jeep.

4:19 p.m.: A caller reported his ex drove over his front lawn on Longmeadow Street.

5:36 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Williams St. and Frank Smith Road. Citations were issued for failure to yield the right of way and for operating with an expired license.

10:43 p.m.: A caller reported someone ringing his parents’ doorbell on Green Meadow Drive. An officer checked the area and surrounding streets but was unable to locate anyone.

11:21 p.m.: Police investigated an attempted breaking and entering of a vehicle on Birchwood Avenue. The suspect was described as a white male with a white shirt or no shirt, jeans and a white baseball cap.

Tuesday, July 30

7:06 a.m.: A caller reported finding suspicious items including a bag of clothing in their yard on East Greenwich Road. An officer collected the items.

7:12 a.m.: A caller reported suspicious items dumped in the area of South Park Lane, possibly related to a prior car break.

7:19 a.m.: An officer was flagged down for a car that was rummaged through on Birchwood Avenue. No items were taken.

7:39 a.m.: An officer was flagged down for a car break.

7:45 a.m.: An officer attempted to make contact with parties at an address on Normandy Road because found items related to cars broken into belonged to them.

8:01 p.m.: Springfield police received a report of a 2004 white Nissan Altima being operated erratically headed northbound on Frank Smith Road. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Wednesday, July 31

8:24 a.m.: Police received a report that a suspect in a grey station wagon stole two backpack leafblowers on North Maple Street in Enfield, CT, and headed north toward Longmeadow.

5:54 p.m.: A caller reported yelling and screaming coming from a location on Tennyson Drive. Officers found a male party was letting out frustration while working on his vehicle.

Thursday, Aug. 1

6:27 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Converse Street. A caller reported the car struck a tree. The motorist complained of chest pain and was transported to the hospital.

9:31 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Bliss Road. A caller reported a vehicle hit a pole. No injuries were reported.

12:09 p.m.: Police received a report of ongoing harassment on Longmeadow Street.

1:16 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Bliss Road near the farmers market.

2:08 p.m.: Police received a BOLO from Easthampton for a vehicle involved in a shoplifting incident from CVS.

3:55 p.m.: The Longmeadow K-9 unit was requested by East Longmeadow police for assistance with an incident involving the illegal use of a weapon near North Main Street and Lombard Street.

9:37 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Dwight Road and Williams Street.

9:55 p.m.: Police received a report of a bat in a residence on Colony Road. The bat was successfully removed.

Friday, Aug. 2

3:08 a.m.: A caller on Westmoreland Avenue reported hearing noise downstairs. Officers did a walkthrough of the exterior of the home with the homeowner and found it was secure. The owner did not want a walkthrough of the interior.

8:23 p.m.: A caller on Pleasantview Avenue reported a bat in their house. The bat was successfully removed.

8:37 p.m.: A  caller reported an older male was hitchhiking near Longmeadow Street and Maple Road. Police gave the man a courtesy transport to Springfield.

Saturday, Aug. 3

12:38 a.m.: An Uber driver on Pleasantview Avenue called police to report a party in his back seat passed out. The rider was transported to the hospital.

3:55 a.m.: A caller reported a truck parked near his house on Franklin Road was idling with its headlights off. The caller later called back to report a male on a bicycle and a black bag met with the operator and both left the area. Officers located a male on a bicycle and the area was checked for possible break-ins.

6:28 a.m.: A caller reported their vehicle on Sylvan Place was entered but nothing was taken and added neighbors’ cars were entered as well. An officer followed up with the neighbors who were unsure if anything was taken.

7:31 a.m.: A caller on Brookside Drive reported two vehicles were stolen and an additional vehicle was broken into.

8:48 a.m.: A caller on Bark Haul Road reported four vehicles were entered overnight.

10:11 a.m.: A caller reported their vehicle on Sylvan Place was entered but nothing was taken.

10:24 a.m.: A caller on reported their vehicle was entered on Twinbrook Circle but nothing was taken.

1:24 p.m.: An anonymous party found a wallet on Bliss Road and dropped it off at the police station lobby and declined to provide her name or phone number when asked. The wallet owner called to see if it had been turned in and when they picked it up, they reported money was missing.

5:32 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a loose dog near Lexington Road and Emerson Road. An officer located the dog, returned it to the station and notified the dog officer. An officer later reported the dog bit him. The dog officer was updated and the dog owner was notified.

7:57 p.m.: A caller reported six to eight children were running in and out of traffic on Redfern Drive. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate them.

Sunday, Aug. 4

9:03 a.m.: Police received notification from Hartford police that a stolen motor vehicle had been recovered.

10:18 a.m.: A caller on Sylvan Place reported their vehicle was entered the day before and keys from another vehicle were missing.

12:37 p.m.: Police investigated a report that money was missing from a resident’s bank account.

3:02 p.m.: Police received notification from Manchester, CT, police that a stolen motor vehicle was recovered.

11:30 p.m.: A homeowner called reporting he checked his home camera and heard a woman signing in the house on Wild Grove Lane. The house was checked and secured.
