Longmeadow Police Logs, Aug. 26-Sept. 1

Monday, Aug. 26

7:01 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Converse Street. EMS and towing services were notified and a female was transported.

9:42 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Prynnwood Road.

12:00 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment occurred neat Bliss Road and Bliss Court. EMS responded to evaluation and towing services were notified.

5:30 p.m.: A party reported their laptop was stolen the evening prior on Fernleaf Ave.

6:31 p.m.: A party dropped off an injured hawk at the police station. Birds of Prey rescue was contacted and picked up the animal.

6:52 p.m.: A caller reported a yellow pick up truck pulled up next to a male on Wimbleton Drive who handed money to the driver in exchange for something.

7:23 p.m.: A party on Laurel Street reported their house was broken into.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

5:47 p.m.: Police investigated a report of a male parked in front of the station who was yelling while speaking on the phone.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

1:00 a.m.: A caller on Concord Road requested a security check of the residence overnight, stating someone was banging on the door at 3 a.m. the day prior.

7:56 a.m.: Witnesses reported a road rage incident on Williams Street. A male in a back Ford Ranger reportedly got out of his vehicle and swore at a woman in another car while stopped at a light. An officer spoke to the male who stated an incident took place on the highway and he was upset with the woman who he said nearly caused an accident.

9:05 a.m.: A party on Silver Birch Road reported someone was walking around measuring her yard on Aug. 26.

11:00 a.m.: Police served a Section 35 warrant.

7:24 p.m.:  A motor vehicle crash involving four vehicles took place on Longmeadow Street. Devin J. Scott, 23, of 135 Sunset St., Windsor Locks, CT, was charged with OUI–liquor (second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a license suspended for OUI.

Thursday, Aug. 29

12:54 p.m.: Police served a Section 35 warrant.

4:57 p.m.: A caller reported a white male wearing shorts, a green shirt and a baseball cap was asking for donations for clean water near Blueberry Hill Road and Bliss Road. Police found the party and advised him of the town’s bylaws requiring registration of solicitors.

5:58 p.m.: Police investigated a report of unattended children sleeping in a running vehicle on Bliss Road.

7:10 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Converse Street and Dickinson Street. EMS was notified for evaluation of a child in one of the vehicles but transport was refused.

Friday, Aug. 30

9:51 a.m.: A caller reported a male was sitting in a camping chair in the middle of the road shredding bags and stuffing items into a shoe. Police were unable to locate the male and spoke to the caller who stated they walked into Enfield, Connecticut. The male in question was described as an older, possibly homeless man.

Saturday, Aug. 31

12:40 a.m.: Police assisted the Longmeadow Fire Department after a caller reported all of the hardwired smoke detectors were sounding at their home on Woodside Drive.

1:03 a.m.: Police investigated a suspicious person after an officer reported seeing a subject jump into the bushes on Llewellyn Place.

Sunday, Sept. 1

12:37 p.m.: A caller requested a check of their home on Burbank Road. After canceling a response to an alarm with the alarm company, the calling party realized no one had been home. An officer checked the residence and all was in order.

8:44 p.m.: A caller on Whitmun Road reported hearing a knock on the door and seeing three or four youths running down the street. Officers were unable to locate anyone.
