Longmeadow Police Logs, Aug. 19-25

Monday, Aug. 19

10:29 a.m.: A caller reported a dog was hit by a car on Converse Street. The parents of the owner were notified.

2:25 p.m.: Police investigated a report of identity theft on Williams Street.

7:44 p.m.: Police investigated a reported breaking and entering at a home on Converse Street.

10:00 p.m.: A caller reported someone was pounding on the back door of their home on Coventry Lane. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

5:31 a.m.: Police received a report of a vehicle that was broken into overnight on Crescent Road. The vehicle owner reported the value of items taken to be approximately $1,000.

9:01 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Forest Glen Road. A citation was issued for following too close.

9:57 a.m.: A caller reported a silver Toyota Corolla traveling the wrong way in a one-way on Bliss Road. The reported plate did not yield any vehicle on record and an officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

11:10 a.m.: Police investigated a fraud report on Barbara Lane.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

12:02 a.m.: Police received a report from the East Longmeadow Police Department of a hit and run involving an older model gold Mercedes that occurred in their town. The vehicle was last seen headed toward Longmeadow. Longmeadow police were unable to locate the vehicle at that time and East Longmeadow police eventually located it.

11:51 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Ellington Street and Longmeadow Street. A citation was issued to one driver.

12:43 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Bliss Road. A citation was issued for failure to yield.

3:37 p.m.: Police investigated a fraud report. The reporting party cited unauthorized charges.

11:05 p.m.: Police received a request for a walkthrough of a home on Meadowlark Drive. The calling party found their garage door open and stated the door was shut when they left earlier. Officers did a walkthrough of the house with the homeowner and found it to be secure.

Thursday, Aug. 22

9:24 a.m.: A caller requested to speak to an officer regarding a news van filming her daughter. An officer advised the complainant to contact the news company and it was not a police matter at that time.

11:11 a.m.: A caller reported a deer giving birth in their backyard on Duxbury Lane. Police contacted Environmental Police who suggested calling Mass. Wildlife but no human action was required. The reporting party was given the number for Mass. Wildlife.

11:20 a.m.: Enfield, Connecticut, police reported the pursuit of a vehicle headed into Longmeadow. Enfield police then reported the vehicle collided with a mail truck. The officers on scene reported the party was not breathing and vehicles were on fire. The Longmeadow Fire Department and EMS were dispatched and the Massachusetts State Police were called to the scene. Read more on this incident on here.

12:01 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash was reported near Longmeadow Street and Nevins Ave.

12:35 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Laurel Street and Converse Street.

2:36 p.m.: A caller on Vanguard Lane reported an unknown animal was in their house. An officer found the animal to be a rabbit and removed it.

Friday, Aug. 23

3:10 a.m.: Longmeadow police received a BOLO from the East Longmeadow Police Department for a Hispanic female carrying a wine bottle who made threats to harm herself. East Longmeadow later reported they located the female.

8:26 a.m.: Police investigated a report that a vehicle on Silver Birch Road was broken into. The reporting party stated the vehicle was gone through but nothing was taken.

9:16 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash was reported on Williams Street.

1:15 p.m.: Longmeadow Police received a BOLO from the Enfield Police Department for a green Nissan SUV occupied by a black male and female involved in a larceny at the Kohls in Enfield, Connecticut.

3:59 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Shaker Road and Maple Street. A party reported a knee injury but refused EMS transport.

4:33 p.m.: A caller reported their residence on Colton Place was broken into.

5:26 p.m.: A caller reported her cat killed a bat in their house on Lincoln Road. The Board of Health was notified.

10:30 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Western Drive.

Saturday, Aug. 24

3:06 a.m.: A caller reported hearing noises from the basement of their home on Tanglewood Drive. An officer spoke with two males walking in the area and walked through the house and found all in order.

9:11 a.m.: A caller reported their home on Forest Glen Road was entered the night before and three bicycles were taken.

1:23 p.m.: Longmeadow police received a BOLO from the Agawam Police Department for a vehicle and party involved in a domestic who was sought for arrest after making a threat with a kitchen knife.

1:42 p.m.: Police assisted with a dog locked in a car on Bliss Road.

2:30 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious mixed-race male in his 20s, possibly dealing drugs on Longmeadow Street. The reporting party said the male approached a woman in a Pontiac and is hanging around the area. Enfield, Connecticut, police were notified. The parties left the area before officers arrived and an employee stated the vehicle headed south on Route 5.

Sunday, Aug. 25

1:58 p.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop and subsequently arrested and charged Jordan A. Soldano, 25, of 333 Franklin St., Springfield, as a fugitive from justice on a court warrant. Soldano was also cited for an inspection sticker violation and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

3:37 p.m.: A caller reported a vehicle drove into a light post and then drove off. The vehicle in question later returned and the operator requested EMS, stating they were not feeling well.
