Longmeadow Police Log, Sept. 16-22, 2019

Monday, Sept. 16

6:40 a.m.: A caller reported vandalism behind a cafeteria on Cambridge Circle.

1:32 p.m.: A party on Longmeadow Street reported harassment.

2:11 p.m.: A caller on Maple Road reported receiving harassing phone calls. An officer investigated the report of someone leaving messages asking for a return call and discovered the party was a friend from book club.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

8:11 a.m.: Police assisted the Fire Department with a report of a bus filled with smoke on Massachusetts Avenue. Children were put on a new bus and the old bus was taken away by maintenance.

10:58 a.m.: Police investigated a death on Shaker Road after a caller reported their 92-year-old grandmother died overnight.

1:51 p.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop near Longmeadow Street and Crescent Road. Ismail Y. Wali, 35, of 42 Greene St., Springfield, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and speeding.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

8:52 a.m.: Police investigated a student alteration on Grassy Gutter Road. Police later reviewed video footage of the incident as requested by the principal.

9:20 a.m.: A caller reported an employee had their wallet stolen from their car on Converse Street the day before.

1:36 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Longmeadow Street.

3:12 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred on Converse Street. A citation was issued for following too closely.

8:21 p.m.: A caller reported suspicious activity after a vehicle nearly rear-ended her at the traffic lights at Converse Street and Laurel Street. The motorist stopped in front of her house to her stare down.

Thursday, Sept. 19

6:35 a.m.: A caller reported vehicles parked in a driveway on Barrington Road were struck overnight.

8:31 a.m.: A caller reported a vehicle hit her child on a bicycle near Frank Smith Road and Wolf Swamp Road. The child appeared to have minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

9:08 a.m.: A caller reported workers next door nearly hit him with their vehicle and the parties then got into a verbal argument.

Friday, Sept. 20

4:53 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Dwight Road and Converse Street.

9:53 a.m.: A caller reported a male with a hat and bandana over his face with a green shirt appeared on their digital doorbell looking in the front window. Officers checked the home and all appeared in order.

2:59 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Laurel Street and Farmington Road.  A citation was issued for failure to yield.

4:31 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Bliss Road and Grassy Gutter Road.

7:12 p.m.: The Hampden Police Department requested use of Longmeadow’s K9 unit for a domestic in their town.

Saturday, Sept. 21

12:46 p.m.: A caller reported their dog was bit by another dog on Converse Street the night before.

3:56: A caller reported a group of teenaged on bicycles were being loud and swearing as they rode by on Iverness Lane.

5:38 p.m.: A caller on Metacomet Road reported their golf clubs were stolen.

Sunday, Sept. 22

1:10 p.m.: A party on Brittany Road reported identity theft.

1:37 p.m.: A motor vehicle crash occurred near Longmeadow Street and Western Drive. An officer reported the crash actually occurred in Springfield.
