Beloved bagel shop plans to move into Kate Gray Boutique location

LONGMEADOW – After several conversations with Alex Belyshev, owner of Alex’s Bagels on Williams Street in Longmeadow, Kate Vishnyakov, owner of Kate Gray Boutique on Longmeadow Street, has decided to close her women’s clothing boutique and move on to the next chapter of her life, making space for Alex’s Bagels to move to the 398 Longmeadow St. location next to CVS.

“I would have thought finally deciding to close the store would make me sad, but after struggling to make this decision for a while now, I am quite light-hearted and at peace with the decision,” said Vishnyakov. “This month marks my 17th year working in family-owned retail – first for iconic Yale Genton, then for myself at Kate Gray. It’s time to find out what’s coming next.”

Belyshev will buy out Vishnyakov’s lease and plans to re-open Alex’s Bagels in the new location by Oct. 1, ending a long search for just the right new home for the bagel shop, which must move from its Williams Street location to make room for the Longmeadow Big Y expansion.

Said Vishnyakov: “Kate Gray was the kind of shop that allowed me to become friends with many of my customers. I am so grateful for the stories they have shared with me – the upsets, celebrations, milestones achieved, and obstacles overcome. I thank you for shopping with me, for supporting Kate Gray, but most importantly, I thank you for sharing your life with me.”

Vishnyakov wrote, in a letter to customers: “I promise you there will be wine, laughter, hugs, good cheer – and a final party where we’ll raise a toast to friendship and the future! Please call 413-567-7500 or email me at kate@kate-gray.com for a personal shopping experience.”

“There will, of course, be a SALE, she wrote, “an AMAZING one. New products arrive daily and everything is on sale!”

Gift cards and store credits will be honored until July 27, when the store will close.
