LONGMEADOW –  State Sen. Eric Lesser and state Rep. Brian Ashe met with members of the Longmeadow High School boys soccer team in the auditorium on Dec. 20 to congratulate them on the school’s first-ever Division 1 state championship.

Superintendent M. Martin O’Shea, Principal Tom Landers and Athletic Director Michael Capotosto were also in attendance.

The Lancers defeated Needham 2-0 in Worcester on Nov. 23 to cap an undefeated season.

The legislators presented citations from the House of Representatives and the Senate, saying the team’s victory created a buzz around the State House.
