Courtney Dunn of Longmeadow Graduates from Eckerd College
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Eckerd College is pleased to announce
the graduation of Courtney Dunn of Longmeadow, MA.
One of 530 Eckerd College graduates, Courtney received a BA degree in Human Development and a minor in Visual Arts during commencement ceremonies in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Sunday, May 21.
Speakers included environmental activist Bill McKibben and Pixar/Walt Disney Imagineering executive John Lasseter, both of whom received honorary doctorate degrees from Eckerd.
Eckerd’s graduates hailed from 36 states, including 230 from the State of Florida, and nine countries, including Ghana, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Slovenia, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Nigeria and Singapore.
The top five majors of Eckerd’s graduating class were environmental studies, marine science, biology, psychology and communication.

Local Students Named to University of Hartford Dean’s List
WEST HARTFORD, CT – The University of Hartford is pleased to
announce Taylor Scyocurka and Sarah Banning of Longmeadow have been named to the Dean’s List for Spring2013.
Chartered in 1957 with the mission to be a “private university with a public purpose,” the University of Hartford offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in the arts, the humanities, business, engineering and technology, education, and the health professions.
The University’s student body of 7,200 represents 48 states and more than 60 countries.

Hussey Awarded Internship Fellowship
CANTON, NY – Caitlin O. Hussey, of Longmeadow, is the recipient of a 2013 St. Lawrence University Internship Fellowship Award.
Established in 1997, the Internship Fellowship Award is designed to promote leadership and career development opportunities for undergraduate students.
Awarded to a St. Lawrence University student who has secured an internship, including structured career development or research opportunities for the upcoming winter of summer break, this award is intended to help offset the cost of living and travel/transportation expenses incurred during the student’s internship experience.
Funds may also potentially cover income replacement if adequate need is demonstrated.
A member of the Class of 2014, Hussey is majoring in English. Hussey graduated from Longmeadow High School.
The interns were chosen from a competitive field of candidates who completed an extensive application process, including multi-stage interviews.

Shrair Earns S Dean’s List Honors
BRISTOL, RI – Justin Shrair, a resident of Longmeadow,
has been named to the Spring 2013 Dean’s List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.
Justin is a Media Communication major. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean’s List that semester.

Area Residents Named to Dean’s List
FAIRFIELD, CT – Fairfield University has announced that Kyle Douglas and Glenn LaFountain, of Longmeadow, have been
named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2013 semester.
Fairfield University, a comprehensive Jesuit university. It
challenges its students to lead inspired lives of leadership and service. To be selected for the Dean’s List, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5, of a possible 4.0.

Taylor named to Wake Forest University’s Dean’s List
WINSTON SALEM, NC – Katherine Taylor from Longmeadow,
was named to the Spring 2013 Dean’s List at Wake Forest University.
Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.
